Sep 18, 2018 MIDI file importing in GarageBand iPad and GarageBand iPhone is finally here in version 2.3.6, and in this video I show you how to download a.mid MIDI file and import it in to GarageBand, all on. Apr 23, 2016 Sorry if this has been covered. I'm new to iPad medic apps. I follows advice in a 2012 thread to put a midi file into GarageBand for iPad via iTunes. I did it ok and it shows in the GarageBand window on iTunes but GarageBand doesn't seem to like them. They're greyed out so u can't drag them to a track. So how do I import a midi file yo iPad.

- Hello everyone, I have iPhone 6s Plus and trying to find a way to convert audio to midi with Audiobus in Garageband. I run iSymphonic orchestra in Garageband by using Audiobus and it makes audio records as well.
- Sep 07, 2012 I bought an iPad to play back midi backing tracks for live performance, thinking that it was time to put my old floppy-disc based setup out to pasture. I've found suitable looking apps - Midi Out, for example - and hardware such as the iConnect midi unit, but I simply cannot find a way of importing my existing midi files onto the iPad.
What is Audiobus? — Audiobus isan award-winning music app for iPhone and iPad which lets you useyour other music apps together. Chain effects on your favouritesynth, run the output of apps or Audio Units into an app likeGarageBand or Loopy, or select a different audio interface outputfor each app. Route MIDI between apps — drive asynth from a MIDI sequencer, or add an arpeggiator to your MIDIkeyboard — or sync with your external MIDI gear. And control your entire setup from a MIDI controller.
Download on the App StoreAudiobus is the app that makes the rest of your setup better.

Hello everyone,
I have iPhone 6s Plus and trying to find a way to convert audio to midi with Audiobus in Garageband.
I run iSymphonic orchestra in Garageband by using Audiobus and it makes audio records as well.. Is there any way to send midi signals inside Garageband by using Audiobus with a third party app?

- You can't send MIDI out from Garage Band, but what you can do is use another MIDI app and send it's MIDI out to iSymphonic, and then record the audio in Garageband.Garageband has great limitations as an iOS DAW, which is puzzling after all this time. It's essentially an isolated dead end road, which is a shame because it could be really useful on iOS with just a few relatively minor additions.

Many thanks for your opinions. - edited December 2015I use GarageBand to start stuff off. Often the idea is originated there. What I’ve given up trying to do is rescue any of it for further use. I use it to rough out the sketch, build a little maquette or prototype, practice the pacing of what needs to be where with placeholders. Then once it’s got something, even though by then it’s over into Logic Pro to look at and play with, I don’t attempt to use anything it made. I just start each piece all over again, manually, in a proper situation. It often doesn’t resemble what I sketched out, but it benefits from it.It remains one of the most accessible dumbed-down means of imitating music for the people.

There are a number of things I'd love to see added - MIDI/control changes (at least THEIR version of it) as an OUT app for AB, more instruments, more onboard control over recorded audio - but it gets me where I need to be.
- You could try and run a Garageband track through MIDIMorphosis and send the midi to another app. May work.
I use this kind of stuff with figure tracks and it works well, if the melody ain't full of FX and such - @senhorlampada said:

Sampler which is inside GarageBand also helps for midi signals but sound quality is not good as much as audio recording..

- I don't have audioshare yet. Is it supposed to do that? Not clear from the description in AppStore
- GarageBand doesn't show in Open-in. For midi files as for audio files. Audiobus doesn't work with midi files, only audio. GB is NOT Audiobus compatible. Import audio only via iTune share and Music library.

You can record into it) also you can use the iOS general clipboard to paste from Audioshare. - GarageBand on iOS does deal with midi files in or out. I don't have a Mac PC but from my understanding, GB projects could be imported to GB on Mac and then the midi would be available..but I'm not sure. Actually I'd like to know if this is true or not.Anyway on iOS GB is pretty limited, but I still find it useful on occasion for my music making.

You can indeed record into it, but not from it, in AB. Now, you can actually import audio/loops from AudioShare and DropBox : open Loops, select Audio Files tab, open Import from iCloud Drive, open Locations ( top left ), open More.., switch AudioShare and Dropbox on. From now you can open AS or DB and import the files.
For a midi file you may check this:

It's an invisible hub and bottle washer/file clerk/dogsbody for many, many folks hereabouts. - edited March 2016@JohnnyGoodyear +1 on Audishare, everyone should have it.Also to note that AudioShare can house midi files and even play them with a chip tune type player as like a preview, but it can't play another app via midi, but does the 'open-in'Correction..typo from my above pos, it should be: 'GarageBand on iOS does NOT deal with midi files in or out.'The video demo above is not really importing files into GB..it shows GB recording from a MIDI file, that's a big difference, however it could be a nice workaround for a limited amount of midi stuff.
